So What the Polls are Saying is…

18 Jan

Looking at the Real Clear Politics (RCP) pages for “President Obama Job Approval” [1] and “Direction of Country” [2] the results presented are interestingly confusing. The RCP polls take all the polls for a particular topic, gather their results and compile them into a singular result. It’s one way to get an idea of how those polled across various different means are responding.

The compiled RCP poll results for “President Obama Job Approval” shows President Obama sitting at an approval rating of 52% as of this article. While it went back and forth through out 2012, it started trending upward days before the election and has continued to do through today. If this is one statistic is viewed by itself one might draw the conclusion the majority of people are please with the direction President Obama is leading the country. People wouldn’t approve of a someone leading them in the wrong direction, would they?

Real Clear Politics fortunately has compiled the poll results for “Direction of Country” and it’s not good news for the President at all. According to the RCP poll results around 57% of those polled feel the country is headed in the wrong direction. However, this trend isn’t new. In fact, this has been the case for almost three years. Only in 2009, between April 20th thru June 13th, did the poll trend downward. After June 13th people began to show their dissatisfaction in the direction of the country.

Are these two polls telling us we approve of President Obama leading the country down the wrong direction? Maybe, maybe not. If not then exactly what are the polls telling us then? Quite honestly, not a whole lot. Which is why polls are dismissed by so many people today. The numbers can be spun in an infinite number of ways by both sides to sell their ideology to the masses. To paraphrase the saying by Ben Franklin, there’s lies, damn lies and statistics. We shouldn’t trust any of the three.

In fairness, Congress has maintained a worse rating than the President over the same time-frame. In fact, the RCP “Congressional Job Approval” [3] compiled poll average for the United States House of Representatives and Senate is embarrassing at just over 80%. In other words, while almost 5 out of 10 people disapprove of the job President Obama is doing, 8 out of 10 disapprove of the job the 435 members of Congress is doing.

In the end, we only have ourselves to blame because it is “we the people” who keep sending people we so drastically disapprove of back to do the same job but expect different results. It makes “we the people” fit the definition of insane quite well. Now there’s something to think about.

Don’t Care: Private Company Gets Temporary Block on Contraception Mandate

29 Nov

The next round of lawsuits against the Affordable Care Act (ie. Obamacare) are starting to make news and headlines. The latest news come from a suit filed by Frank O’Brien and O’Brien Industrial Holdings. The suit is being heard by a three judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

The court has decided to approve a motion for a preliminary injunction which was filed. The injunction will temporarily block mandate requiring the Missouri business owner to provide contraception. Many against Obamacare are taking this as a small but significant victory.

Francis Manion, Senior Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) stated, “By granting our motion, the appeals court blocks the implementation of the HHS mandate and clears the way for our lawsuit to continue – a significant victory for our client.”

The O’Brien case was initially dismissed by a federal court at the Obama Administration’s request. However, the ACLJ filed an appeal on O’Brien’s behalf and the case ended up in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Obamanation: Painting Depicts Obama as Crucified Christ

Obama Crucified

Perhaps this is what inspired Jamie Foxx to make his comments about Barack Obama being his lord and savior.

Michael D’Antuono created the artwork, called “Truth”,  as part of the “Artists on the Stump – the Road to the White House 2012” exhibit at Bunker Hill Community College Art Gallery. The exhibit is set to run until Dec 15.

It was supposed to debut much earlier though. Almost four years ago in Union Station the piece was to be shown but was postponed due to overwhelming negative public response.

From the Fox News report:

“I always regretted cancelling my exhibit in New York because I feel my First Amendment rights should override someone’s hurt feelings,” D’Antuono told Fox News. “We should celebrate the fact that we live in a country where we are given the freedom to express ourselves.”

Apparently Mr. D’Antuono is OK with expressing his First Amendment rights but not others who disagree or do not like his point of view.
Welcome to America Mr. D’Antuono. When a person “speaks” they had best be prepared for reactions both good and bad.

He commented directly about the content of the painting, “The crucifixion of the president was meant metaphorically,” he told Fox News. “My intent was not to compare him to Jesus.”

If it was not his intent to compare Obama to Christ, then perhaps he should have used a different pose or taken the crown of thorns off Obama’s head. Most rational people aren’t buying that line Mr. D’Antuono

Who does Mr. D’Antuono hold responsible for the previous canceling and controversy over his painting? He apparently blames the “conservative media”.  He is quoted as saying it was “trying to promote the idea that liberals believe the president to literally be our savior.”

Someone needs to introduce Mr. D’Antuono to Mr. Foxx. I would imagine they have a lot to discuss on the subject of Obama as a savior.

Care Less: Supreme Court Tells Appeals Court to Hear Lawsuit on Health Care Law

26 Nov

The Supreme Court of the United States has told the Fourth Court Circuit of Appeals it must hear the case of Liberty University regarding the new health care law, aka Obamacare.

The Supreme Court ruled previously the law was constitutional in a 5-4 decision, with Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts joining the other four liberal leaning judges on the ruling. The decision upheld the landmark legislation amid a divided public.  The bill was so large most legislators did not read it and the Speaker of the House at the time Nancy Pelosi remarked it must be passed to see what was in it. Something many people found ludicrous and insulting.

Now more and more  is coming to light about the bill and the mandatory supply of birth control is one of those issues now getting a spotlight on it. Many religious organizations are not pleased with the mandate and have filed lawsuits contesting its legality. According to the Politico article:

“Liberty University argues that the law’s employer coverage provisions — which will require businesses with more than 50 full-time workers to provide health insurance for their workers or face fines — are unconstitutional because Congress overstepped its power by setting those rules.

It also says the individual and employer mandates violate the Constitution’s right to a free exercise of religion. The employer mandate is unconstitutional because of the contraception coverage requirement, Liberty argues, claiming that the individual mandate would require individuals to pay for coverage of abortions.”

For the Supreme Court to even think about hearing the case, Liberty University must first get through the Fourth Court Circuit of Appeals, which is known to be quite liberal. If the court doesn’t throw the case out and rules against Liberty University, there is a chance the Supreme Court could hear the case. It seems the Affordable Care Act isn’t done being challenged in the courts just yet.

Out Foxxed: Jamie Foxx Shows Complete Lack of Respect for Christians and Their Faith

26 Nov

One should not be surprised by another liberal Hollywood celebrity insulting the Christian faith while licking the boots of Barack Obama. Someone needs to educate Jamie Foxx just who exactly the Lord and Savior is to Christians. Here’s a tip Mr. Foxx, it is NOT Barack Obama. Maybe Jamie has heard of a fellow by the name of Jesus Christ. Then again, considering whom we’re talking about, very likely not. Maybe next time Mr. Foxx can compare Barack Obama to Islam’s central religious figure, Muhammad. We shouldn’t hold our breath waiting.

And so it begins.

8 Nov

After the re-election of Barack Obama how will the country move forward? With true bi-partisan ship? Or more attempted force feeding from one party and firewalling by the other? Maybe something in the middle? No matter which direction it goes, the end result will felt by we the people.

So what do people of this country, who were raised and believe in work, honor, integrity, faith and old (I would say traditional but the tradition has changed) American values to do? Give in? Give up? Keep fighting? Adjust and adapt? I honestly can’t tell anyone the path they should take. It is for each and every person to look inside their heart, soul and mind to figure out.

What I can do is tell everyone what I am doing. I am preparing for multiple scenarios. In the short term, my family will stay where we are and continue to do what we have been doing, with some adjustments to how and where we spend our money. In the long term, I am keeping my options open. If things get worse, I have no qualms about leaving this country.

How could you some might ask. The answer is, because the country I grew up in and loved would have died and no longer exist. I will fight the good fight until it becomes apparent it’s a losing battle. At that point I will put my family first. That is my job as a husband and father. Case closed.

If things get better, we will stay and help to improve things on the local, state and federal level. We will continue to grow and thrive where we have been for decades. I would much rather this be the scenario than having to leave.

So are the thoughts and decisions of everyone in this country. Moving forward. It’s what we all must do. The only question is the direction each of us will take. And that choice is what will determine if the United States of America will be a shining city on a hill or a broken used light bulb in the trash heap. We the people will decide.

Elections Have Consequences

8 Nov

Sadly I see this as a trend going forward, especially for small businesses. With more regulations and taxes coming due to Obamacare, it is only a matter of time before the ripple effects are felt by everyone, and not in a good way.

Obama Won–So I Fired 22 Employees

… “I explained to them a month ago that if Obama gets in office that the regulations for Obamacare are gonna hurt our business, and I’m gonna have to make provisions to make sure I have enough money to cover the payroll taxes, the additional health care I’m gonna have to do, and I explained that to them and I said you do what you feel like in your heart you need to do, but I’m just letting you know as a warning this is things I have to think of as a business owner. …

And there is the prelude to the coming storm ladies and gentlemen. The business owners will end up looking out for number one. It’s the nature and purpose of business. Businesses do not exist to give people jobs. Businesses exist to make money and they employ people so they can make more money. It really is that simple.

Those of you who voted for Obama, when a company lays off employees here in the USA, and possibly moves parts of itself to a country where doing business there is more advantageous, do not complain. You brought this upon yourself and this country. Your lack of understanding and comprehension of how a business works lead to an incorrect conclusion. The reaping of what was sown will be seen, if people chose to open their eyes and minds and take off their blinders.
