Obamanation: Painting Depicts Obama as Crucified Christ

Obama Crucified

Perhaps this is what inspired Jamie Foxx to make his comments about Barack Obama being his lord and savior.

Michael D’Antuono created the artwork, called “Truth”,  as part of the “Artists on the Stump – the Road to the White House 2012” exhibit at Bunker Hill Community College Art Gallery. The exhibit is set to run until Dec 15.

It was supposed to debut much earlier though. Almost four years ago in Union Station the piece was to be shown but was postponed due to overwhelming negative public response.

From the Fox News report:

“I always regretted cancelling my exhibit in New York because I feel my First Amendment rights should override someone’s hurt feelings,” D’Antuono told Fox News. “We should celebrate the fact that we live in a country where we are given the freedom to express ourselves.”

Apparently Mr. D’Antuono is OK with expressing his First Amendment rights but not others who disagree or do not like his point of view.
Welcome to America Mr. D’Antuono. When a person “speaks” they had best be prepared for reactions both good and bad.

He commented directly about the content of the painting, “The crucifixion of the president was meant metaphorically,” he told Fox News. “My intent was not to compare him to Jesus.”

If it was not his intent to compare Obama to Christ, then perhaps he should have used a different pose or taken the crown of thorns off Obama’s head. Most rational people aren’t buying that line Mr. D’Antuono

Who does Mr. D’Antuono hold responsible for the previous canceling and controversy over his painting? He apparently blames the “conservative media”.  He is quoted as saying it was “trying to promote the idea that liberals believe the president to literally be our savior.”

Someone needs to introduce Mr. D’Antuono to Mr. Foxx. I would imagine they have a lot to discuss on the subject of Obama as a savior.
